Breeding

Bringing the Maso Mastiff to Canada.

We are a small, family-first breeder in Meteghan, on Nova Scotia’s French Shore. We raise Maso Mastiffs as family pets, and we are proud to help bring this gentle giant to Canadian homes.

What is a Maso Mastiff?

The Maso Mastiff, also called the Giant Maso, is a young breed that is still being developed. The breeding program began around 2001 in the United States, combining the Old English Mastiff with the Cane Corso Italiano.

It is not a fifty-fifty mix. The breed’s founder set out for dogs that are mostly Old English Mastiff, with the goal of a mastiff that is healthier, more athletic and lives a longer life. Masos are known as calm, gentle family dogs that love to please and want to be close to their people.

What we breed for.

  1. HealthSound, athletic dogs built to live long, active lives with their families.
  2. TemperamentCalm, steady and gentle at home, with children, visitors and other animals.
  3. Handler engagementDogs that want to work with their people, pay attention and enjoy learning.

Raised as family pets.

Our puppies are raised in our home and around the farm, with our own dogs, chickens and ducks. They are bred first and foremost to be loving family companions.

That same steady temperament and love of working with people means some of our dogs have gone on to become certified working dogs.

Training starts before they go home.

As a dog trainer, raising puppies well is what we care about most. Every puppy gets gentle handling, new sights and sounds, early house manners and its first lessons in name recognition and engagement before it leaves us. Families go home with a puppy that is ready to learn, and with our support for the road ahead.
